Lipper Internship Program


The Museum of Jewish Heritage is offering a semester-long internship to further the reach of its educational mission. The Lipper Internship brings together graduate and undergraduate students from across the Northeast and is designed for students from a variety of fields and backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a desire to learn and educate, an appreciation for museums, and an ability to work well with others in a diverse environment.

Following training, Interns visit schools in their college communities to give an introductory lesson in the classroom followed by a guided tour at the Museum. Interns then return to the classroom to facilitate a discussion about the lessons learned during the course of the program.
Qualifications/requirements:

The Lipper Internship takes place over the course of an academic semester. Applicants must be actively enrolled at a college or university in the Northeast. Accommodations are provided for the duration of training. Students of all ages and backgrounds are encouraged to apply to the program.

Stipend Information:
Interns will receive a stipend or school credit (to be arranged by the student). Participants are reimbursed for
pre-approved travel expenses.

  • Fall Semester applications are due April 1, with training taking place in late August.

David LaChapelle

David LaChapelle Studio New York is looking for an
intern at our New York Office. Applicants must be available at least 2
days a week. This is a non-paid position. Students, however, are
eligible for college credit.

David LaChapelle Studio is post-production office dealing with all
aspects of the photographer's work. Including gallery, post-production,
website maintenance and photographic archiving.
PLEASE NOTE that this position is not for an "on set" intern, this is strictly gallery and office work.

Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop and Apple computers a must.

Columbia Arts Experience: Get Your Foot in the Front Door to New York's Arts Community

Big business in New York isn't limited to the financial district. In
2005 alone, the Arts in New York generated $21.2 billion in revenue for
the city.* Be a part of it!

Columbia's Center for Career Education (CCE) is pleased to announce the
development of the Columbia Arts Experience, a new program in Spring
2008, in partnership with Columbia University's Art's Initiative. This
program will provide up to eight students with a New York- based
internship in the arts. In its pilot year, the program will be open to
students enrolled in undergraduate schools at Columbia – Columbia
College, the Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science
and the School of General Studies. Students in their second, third and
senior years of study are eligible to apply. Internships will be
available for each of the following sectors:

  • Arts Administration
  • Architecture
  • Dance
  • Film
  • Music
  • New media
  • Theatre
  • TV
  • Writing/Media/Publishing

Each student participating in the program will work at their host
organization site for ten hours a week for ten weeks, and keep a
journal of their experience. Benefits to the program include:

Exclusive arts related programming for program participants, including
conversations with industry experts. A stipend for your work. The
program will run from early February to late April; the deadline to
apply for onsideration is Monday, November 26.

The casting department at Warner Bros. Television Inc. is seeking
interns to work with us for the Winter semester. Our office handles the
New York casting for Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc. TV projects,
including original pilots and series regular casting for shows
currently on the air. This is an ideal opportunity for anyone
interested in a career in casting, acting, directing or other areas of
the entertainment industry.

Candidates should have strong organizational and computer skills as

WABC-TV

WABC-TV is holding its bi-annual Intern Recruitment Night to
host interviews for Spring 2008 internships.

DATE: Thursday, November 8th
TIME: 5pm

LOCATION: ABC 77 West 66th Street, 1st Fl cafeteria, NY.

Internships are active throughout the year, with recruitment for fall, spring, and summer semesters.
Our internships are unpaid and non-technical. There is a $10 a day stipend.

To be eligible for an internship, participants must have at least
junior year standing in an undergraduate program leading to a degree,
and either attend school in or permanently live in the NY tri-state
area. While students in mass communications/ broadcast journalism and
related fields will fill most of the internships, there are several
available this spring that may attract students in other majors
(Political /Educational Units, Sales/Marketing and 7Online.com).
Students are required to receive academic credit in return for the
internship and will work at least sixteen hours per
week.

Editorial Interns

The Magazine Antiques
Interns will work on the following projects:

  • Cataloguing new books entering the magazine's research library
  • Organizing and maintaining the books in the collection
  • Assisting in the proofreading process for editorial articles and columns when necessary.

This internship will provide educational
opportunities combined with experience of working with knowledgeable
editors in a professional publishing environment. Candidates should
possess strong organizational skills and have an interest in Art
History, Publishing, or Library Studies.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

ART HISTORY/ENGLISH AND JOURNALISM STUDENTS PREFERRED.

Indie-Indie Corp.

Available immediately, Indie-India seeks a qualified candidate for its internship program.

Indie-India is a not for profit organization with a mission to
promote aesthetically rich and meaningful cinema from the Indian
subcontinent with a special emphasis on independent and regional cinema
from India. The intern will work closely with the Chief of Operations.

Ideally, this is a 3-month position between 20-40 hours of work each
week, determined on an individual basis. We believe in a hands-off
approach of supervision and keep micro-management to a minimum. As a
result, we are looking for someone who is a self-starter requiring
minimal day-to-day supervision and is capable of working independently
from home on assigned projects. The candidate should be a team-player,
has excellent writing skills and a passion for films. Due to our
deadline-oriented schedule, candidates must be organized, personable,
and able to work under busy and sometimes stressful conditions.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook Express is preferred but not required.

Duties include:

  • collecting promotional materials from

  • assembling press kits
  • creating text for our
    upcoming website
  • database upkeep

    our events
  • running miscellaneous errands.

Intern will
also assist the Chief of Operations on preparations for events,
screenings, and other projects. Alternately, we also have openings in
the research department; if a candidate is stationed outside NY City
area, this is an option that couldbe explored. Due to the intensity of
the work involved, the internship position can build excellent
professional skills and a breadth of knowledge that goes well beyond
the entry-level work involved. The internship also provides a great
networking opportunity in the Indian media industry in India and the
US.
