The university-wide calendar project was featured in The Columbia Spectator today:
"Student council members from Columbia’s affiliates have teamed up to create a campus-wide undergraduate calendar, advertising everything from group meetings to parties. So far, 35 student groups and organizations have participated in this calendar, which debuted nearly two weeks ago.
The new system “allows groups, individuals, and unrecognized student groups to publish and send a calendar through Gmail, which in turn we will upload onto the Web site,” said co-founder Kate McNamara, BC ’08 and VP of communications for Barnard’s Student Government Association. “This way, students will know when clubs and organizations hold general meetings and the idea is that more students will attend each other’s events."

Any student group, or student government board, or Columbia University organization can be a part of this calendar. All they have to do is share their Google Calendar with cucalendars@gmail.com. If you have any questions let me know - Brody Berg, VP of Communication for the General Studies Student Council.
Also, if you are interested in doing a little Python hacking over Spring Break for this project let me know as well. Your help would be a great boost to the project.
Cheers, Brody
The University-wide Calendar the Communication committee has been working on has now been added to our General Studies Lounge Calendar. Now the calendar will show events from thirty groups on campus. We are adding new calendars rapidly. The idea is to bring the students of General Studies the widest possible list of the best events, accompanied by accurate information. Most of our student body lives off campus but attends full time, so using this calendar they can budget their time with increased effectiveness and with much greater integration into the Columbia University experience. Enjoy!
If you have any questions or comments about the calendar let Brody Berg, the VP of Communication know, thanks!
This is the collection of a large and growing number of calendars. To see the list of calendars shown click here. To add your Columbia University organization, club or student government calendar to this calendar just share your Google Calendar with cucalendars@gmail.com. Thanks - Brody Berg VP of Communication General Studies Student Council.

Along with other members of the student councils of the four undergraduate schools I am putting together a Columbia University-wide Calendar. The number one thing students want from a calendar is that it informs them of interesting, relevant events described with accurate details. This is an effort that builds on the experience General Studies has enjoyed with its calendar by bringing in any number of other calendars from other schools, student groups, the Columbia administration and organizations like CUArts and Miller Theatre etc.
Presently the test university-wide calendar has 21 calendars on it. Even with that number of calendars the richness of the Columbia community can be felt immediately - For instance, I just learned that the Vietnamese holiday of Tet starts Thursday and that the Triathlon club is having a workout Saturday. Awesome.
I would love to hear your feedback, observations, complaints, bugs you find and more, email me anytime.
The Prototype Calendar, the test that first combined the calendars from around the Columbia University Campus is now live, go see it at the Official General Studies Calendar page.
