Dear GS students,

October is a cruel month. There's no debate about it. For the most part, we're drowning in papers, quizzes, exams, and ... rain. The question is, what can we do about it? The upcoming weeks have countless fantastic events in store for you, just take advantage!

1. Thursday Night Happy Hour

2. Alumni Luncheon

Would you like to have lunch with a GS alumn who shares your major or career field?
At the Alumni Luncheon, you will be able to meet and mingle with alumni, who are able to offer advice and happy to discuss career opportunities. This event caters mainly to psychology, economics, and political science majors, the top three majors in GS.
If you would like to attend, even if you have a different major, please email Candice Arakelian (VP of Student Life) at ca2402@columbia.edu (include your major and intended career field in your email).

3. Snack Attacks!

We know that studying for midterms makes it easy to forget to sleep, relax, and especially, eat. This is why we will be providing snacks for you, to get you through the week alive and healthy.

4. The Metropolitan Museum Art Series II

We will be touring the Met all year, each time visiting a different section of the museum. These tours will be led by Ms. Andree Caldwell. Tickets are available at the TIC (1st floor of Lerner Hall) or online at https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/pe/8466595.

5. Thanksgiving Dinner

You haven't yet made plans for Thanksgiving? Come and enjoy a fabulous Thanksgiving dinner with other GS students!

6. Ice Skating

Embrace the first snowflakes by joining your fellow GS students on the ice skating rink! Not only will you receive VIP admission, but you'll be spoiled with a cup of hot chocolate and free skate rental as well. 7. Dance Marathon

All dancers and everyone interested in dance, listen up! 
This year's Dance Marathon will give you an opportunity to dance and do good at the same time. Attend this week's info session to learn more about the 18-hour dance party that will benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. On Jan. 29 - 30, CU students will help to raise over $50,000 for the cause, by pledging to dance all night.

8. Basketball Mania

Come and celebrate the official start of the basketball season!
This is a great chance to get to know the basketball team and cheerleaders at one of the largest get-together events on campus.

9. Class of 2011 T-Shirt Design Competition

Show your creativity, and you just may become the official designer for the Class of 2011 T-shirts! Submit as many designs as you like, and all entries will be considered by a selection committee. Not only will the best design be used for the T-shirts, the winner will also receive a free ticket to either the Senior Cruise or the GS Gala.
