GSSC E-Board Meeting 5 September
GSSC Retreat
Retreat
will be pushed back. The place is a retreat center 90 minutes outside
of NYC. The cost without food would be $1400 for the weekend. Elie will
get figures on what GSSC spent last year.
Activities Day
The
GSSC has been asked to contribute to food for Activities Day, and our
further participation in activities that include other Schools'
governing bodies has been encouraged.
Budget
We should
document not only the money we spend, but also the money we do not
spend. We routinely get requests that we deny. The students should
know this.
Student Body Emails
On
emailing the student body; there will be two weekly emails. One from
me and one from Evan. There will be one qualitative and one
quantitative.
GS lounge.com
Everyone is encouraged
to use the calendars. Michael needs page editing access for Finance on
gslounge.com. Word of caution to page editors: if you are a page
editor, you are also a page destroyer potentially. You need to be
careful editing so that we do not delete pages.
The Spectator
Evan's wife is writing an opinion piece for the Spec. She may write on GS or even the GSSC.
Interschool Governing Board
We need an IGB rep. We will have to reach out to other student leaders to see if they are interested.
Four-School VP Communications Meeting
There
is a 4 school VP Comm meeting this Tuesday at 9pm. Keep the meetings
regular. Let other schools know that they all have access to the
calendar. Also let them know diplomatically that the disparaging email
sent last year about a possible merger should not happen again. We do
not yet have liaisons. We should collect the information from the
meetings they attend to have on record, as well as to keep abreast of
what is going on in the other councils. We should have them put the
meeting notes on a page on gslounge.com
Student Housing
Housing
is a top 3 priority. We have only gotten two responses on the housing
walk-through. Brody is working with Paige right now. We need a second
University Senator.
Maybe we can do a shot closed
meeting working out the rules. We need to work with Albert Kim on the
senior agenda for the year. If any GS student signs a lease, they
should get a paper from the GSSC saying to contact them. Maybe an
ombuds is what we need. But this would challenge us to step up. It
could be just our email and a link to our housing page.
Agenda for Tuesday
It
will only be appointments and it will be closed. After Brody
nominates, there will be a speakers list to discuss the nomination.
NROTC
There
are senators from CC to create a cross school referendum on whether
there should be a NROTC. The idea is that senators should vote with
the students. Brody is concerned that those pushing the referendum
have a bias and a goal. We were able to push the whole thing to next
semester. Our goal is to separate the referendum from the senators.
