1968: Columbia in Crisis

What: The occupation of five buildings in April 1968 marked a sea change in the relationships among Columbia University administration, its faculty, its student body, and its neighbors. Featuring original documents, photographs, and audio from the University Archives, "1968: Columbia in Crisis" examines the causes, actions, and aftermath of a protest that captivated the campus, the nation, and the world.

4. Senior Project: Allies Series of dialogs

ROOTEd presents THE ALLIES SERIES: "A" is for Allies

March 30 - April 5

Our annual ALLIES SERIES is a series of dialogues focusing on
issues of understanding ones own social identities and in turn, how
this affects our attitudes and beliefs of others. Participants
discuss what it means to be an ally and create a space where the
process of becoming an ally can begin.

This year's week-long series includes a wide-range of topics and
events that we invite the entire Columbia and Barnard community to be
a part of.

10. Feel Good: Free Pilates Class

11. Give: GS Annual Fund

PLEASE GIVE TO THE GS ANNUAL GIFT FUND

We are trying to achieve at least %75 participation among the senior
class. A high participation rate increases awareness of The School
of General Studies. The fund also benefits students of GS with
scholarships and student services.

Any donation of $5 qualifies you as a participant of the fund drive,
however, consider giving more if you are able. For example, a $100
donation qualifies you as an Alumni Associate.

14. GSSC Arts Campaign: The Art of Physics

Spend an evening with Janna Levin, noted Columbia physicist and novelist, author of A Madman Dreams of Turing Machines.

Is Physics an Art form? What does Science have to do with Art? Are the two mutually exclusive?

Dr. Levin will talk about the intersection of Art and Physics—from abstract mathematical equations to the creation of real objects, shapes, and colors. The imagination behind the discovery of Black Holes and Subatomic Particles.
