Allen Settle: Community Principles Initiative, way to celebrate diversity formally based on certain agreed to principles. Tomorrow is the big launch on the Low steps, want GSSC to sign as an entity. Large banner on Low steps, really should all come out and support it between 12 and 2pm to show that there are certain principles we adhere to.
Niko: Casino night
Shayna: Next Friday, Roone Arledge building, need GSSC people to be dealers.
Niko: we decided last week that we'll fund it, $695, we need some volunteers. 11/9, a Friday + a couple meetings between now and then also in addition to the actual event. Big sell: if we help 4 council now, they'll help us later.
Whitney Green: ESC Rep: Midnite mania, Glass House Rocks, soon after Casino night.
Maria Morad: Barnard: Ethnic Studies Initiative, push Administration toward it, writing article in the Spectator for it. Recognize Sororities as clubs. This is a big deal so they can program on campus, and get money.
Manhattanville open house, CCSC is working on how 4 councils should deal with hate crimes, need first year representative for CCSC meeting.
Karly Curcio: Ivy Council needs a Columbia University Delegation to discuss the relationship between the Ivy League schools. If you are interested you need to let Nancy know.
Allen: Formed in 1993, also for Columbia unified voice. So it's inter Ivy and also Columbia-wide.
Niko: Nancy is contact person.
Niko: Who's seen the word wall? Hands. Pulls up gslounge.com/node/188 on projector. Shows student council. Tomorrow is the CPI thing which represents what the community stands for, which goes with the wall, there are more than a few things that test the waters, and seem hate filled, could hang in a gallery later.
Karly: need more volunteers for Word Wall. People need to stay with it, all day long. Will pass around sign-up sheet.
Niko: Seen many people around it. How long does it take to put up or take down? 10-15 minutes.
Chikodi: so we can alert security
Nancy: New tradition, going forward we're going to have a person every meeting to make sure that every meeting is going according to procedure ie. laptops, cell phones, food and decorum. People are invited to debate, we need to avoid personal attacks.
Niko: Chikodi has a couple events
Chikodi: SIPA Halloween party @ Fat Black Pussy Cat 100ft away from parade. Ticket tomorrow is $20, would love to have GSSC support and bodies. All night, open bar 10-12. Parade is completely amazing.
Part 2: Mixer with med school and law school (Thursday at the Evelyn Lounge), right behind American Museum of Natural History. Hand out some business cards. Monique worked very hard on this one.
Niko: Whenever something new happens, let's add it to the list of new traditions on http://gslounge.com/president
Niko: 360 review, we've now been in session now for 25% of the term. What has gone right, what has gone wrong? Please take three of these sheets that I pass around (this is the last item of the day).
