Chief Policy Representative

Sit on the Policy CommitteeBe the Vice Chair of the Policy CommitteeAssist the Vice President of Policy in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Seek out, identify, and, create policy initiatives.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of PolicyThe Policy Committee is tasked with coordinating and implementing policy initiatives related but not limited to; academic services, student services, facilities, faculty, financial aid, health services, housing, public safety, and sustainability for the School of General Studies and Columbia University as a whole.

The Policy Committee also oversees all Constitutional and By-Law implementations and revisions for the GSSC.

Chief Finance Representative

Sit on the Finance CommitteeBe the Vice Chair of the Finance CommitteeAssist the Vice President of Finance in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Seek out, identify, and, create financial initiatives.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Finance.

The Finance Committee is tasked with administering and monitoring the budget while maintaining accessible detailed records of revenues, expenditures and encumbrances for the GSSC. They advise student organizations about GSSC financial procedures and allocations, and they uphold relationships concerning budgetary and funding issues with the other councils and governing boards.

Chief Communications Representative

Sit on the Communications CommitteeBe the Vice Chair of the Communications CommitteeAssist the Vice President of Communications in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Seek out, identify, and, create communications initiatives.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Communications

The Communications Committee is tasked with facilitating communications within the GSSC, to the GS student body, and to the wider university population. This includes but is not limited to the publication of: council minutes, a weekly email bulletin, event post cards, event posters, and event flyers. The Communications Committee also administers and maintains the GSSC website, Facebook, email listserv, Lerner flat screens, and all other electronic media.

Chief Student Events Representative

Sit on the Student Events CommitteeBe the Vice Chair of the Student Events CommitteeAssist the Vice President of Student Events in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Seek out, identify, and, create events initiatives.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Student Events.

The Student Events Committee develops and executes a program of academic, philanthropic, pre-professional and social events throughout the year.

Alumni Affairs Representative

Sit on the Student Events Committee.Assist the Vice President of Student Events in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Provide opportunities for interaction between students and alumni.Monitor the quality of alumni programming at the university and address concerns which may be raised.Maintain a relationship with the Office of Alumni and Development, and the Executive Director for Alumni Relations at GSFulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Student Events

Social Chair

Sit on the Student Events Committee.Assist the Vice President of Student Events in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Organize the annual GSSC formal.Offer assistance to other GSSC members in planning events.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Student Events

Four Council Coordinator

Attend all CCSC meetings, informing CCSC of of relevant issues from the GSSC and representing the needs of GS students to the other councils.Sit on the Student Events Committee, and report to VP of Student Events.Create and maintain strong relationships with the three other undergraduate councils and other Columbia student groups (including ESC, Barnard, SGB, and ABC)

 

  • As directed by the Eboard, attend or ensure the presence of a liaison at meetings of the undergraduate councils and other students groups.
  • Update the Eboard and the Council on pertinent events, policies, and activities of other councils and groups as necessary.
  • Represent the GSSC on 4 Council Events working with the Social Chair and the GSSC student events committee.

 

Senior Class President

Organize, chair and oversee a Senior Class Committee, when needed.Provide opportunities for Senior GS students to come together for class-specific social and educational purposes.Encourage interaction between the senior class and current alumni.Uphold relations with the Senior Class Presidents from other councils.Coordinate the Senior Gift Fund.Cooperate with the DOS Office to plan and execute commencement activities and other senior-specific activities.Sit on the Student Events Committee.Plan Senior Class events including Senior Week and Senior Cruise.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Vice President of Student Events

You must be a Senior according to the DOS office (at least 90 completed credits)

Senior Class Vice President

Assist the Senior Class President with her or his advocacy and programming responsibilities.Assume the Senior Class President’s responsibilities in his or her absence.Sit on the Student Events Committee.Be the Vice Chair the Senior Class Committee, when needed.Assist the Senior Class President of in the fulfillment of his or her duties.Assume the role of Senior Class President in the event of the resignation, impeachment, or ineligibility of the President.Fulfill all special assignments as delegated by the Senior Class President and the Vice President of Student Events.

You must be a Senior according to the DOS office (at least 90 completed credits)
